While the New Zealand Government considered banning the sale of incandescent bulbs back in 2008, a change in Government meant those plans were never implemented. As a result, these older bulbs are becoming increasingly difficult to purchase and are often more expensive than modern alternatives.
Upgrading to LED downlights offers a number of advantages for homeowners:

• LED lights typically last at least ten times longer than traditional incandescent bulbs.
• Most existing residential round downlights can be upgraded with minimal disruption.
• LED downlights generate significantly less heat. Estimates suggest older incandescent downlights can contribute to heat loss through ceiling cavities, particularly during winter.
