LED Lighting

LED lighting is now installed in virtually every NZ commercial building constructed over the last 10 years.

The world has moved to LED lighting

It is not just new homes, as existing homes are rapidly moving to LED lighting as homeowners take advantage of superior lighting solutions, more efficient cost effective lighting with a significantly lower environmental footprint.

AB Electrical has extensive experience in designing and installing a variety of LED lighting solutions in residential homes.

The AB Electrical team is very passionate about lighting design and endeavors to ensure we can create the environment the customer is seeking to create.

To assist, AB Electrical is the only electrical services firm with a fully equipped showroom which has over 40 LED lights on display. We encourage you to spend time in our showroom where we can talk through different options and get comfortable with a particular solution to suit your needs.

Homeowners can now modernise their home to create custom designed lighting effects using the capability of LED lights. This could be:

Accentuating a feature wall or a particular piece of art
Create a particular scene or mood in your dining area
Small subtle lights on a stairwell or hallway activated by motion detectors
Dimming lights in the kitchen from cool white to a soft glow

Anything is possible and the AB Electrical team have the knowledge and experience to capture your thinking and desire and transform that into a solution to suit your budget

LED lighting has effectively completely replaced the traditional incandescent lights and the once popular halogen lights.

Such are the advantages of LED lighting over other lighting solutions, that already we are seeing fewer incandescent bulbs available in the market and in coming years, we expect to see manufacturing stopped and their withdrawal from the market.

Why are LED lights so popular in NZ Commercial Properties?

LED lights are superior to incandescent (traditional lights) in every way.

Energy Efficiency

LED lights will dramatically reduce your current electrical power consumption for lighting and are even more important in today’s environment with constantly rising power prices.

LED Lights have extremely low power consumption and savings on your lighting costs can be up to 80%.

LED lights are the most energy-efficient way of lighting– they have an 80-90% efficiency, which means 80-90% of their energy is turned into light rather than heat. In comparison, incandescent bulbs lose 80% of their energy as heat and so are only 20% efficient.

LED lights produce light for specific directional light up to 180 degrees. In comparison, incandescent lightbulbs produce light for a full 360 degrees and as a result, with these bulbs, you are paying to lighten up your ceiling cavity!

The energy efficiency of LED lights is increasingly more important with homeowners today as we look towards both economic savings and adopting higher environmental responsibilities.

Lifespan

The average incandescent light will typically last up to 2,000 hours, but most LED lights today will last at least 25,000 hours, over 10 times longer.

As a result, the frustration of constantly purchasing and replacing lights around the house disappears.

In addition, LED lights are robust and hard-wearing. They are not fragile bulbs but based on Light-Emitting Diodes they are robust and capable of operating in harsh environments including external lights.

Environmental Impact

LED lights have a much lower impact on the environment.

Unlike traditional bulbs, LED lighting does not contain harmful mercury.

They are also 100% recyclable.

Using LED lights will help you reduce your carbon footprint by approximately a third.

As noted above, LED lights are on average 85% efficient and use on average up to 85% less electricity with less energy wasted with heat generation or heat and light dissipating into your ceiling space.

Heat

Traditional bulbs and halogens generate significant heat which can create problems when insulation is positioned against the downlights in the ceiling. LED lights generate only a fraction of the heat and are far safer in residential homes.

Lighting Efficiency

LED lights have a range of different styles to suit different environments. These can be very bright cool white to warm, depending on what the customer wants. In addition, some lights can dim down from warm white to an orange hue to create a unique mood in a room.

Lighting Solutions

LED lights have superior capability with dimming and providing focused lighting directed to a feature wall or painting.

I had a faulty light switch connecting to a heat lamp/fan unit in the bathroom. The switch generated sparks when it was turned on. I submitted an online service request to AB Electrical. I received a return call within 10 mins and Mark the electrician arrived at my home shortly afterwards. The problem was dealt with efficiently by replacing the switch unit. AB Electrical has a good team to handle the booking and on site work. A big thanks to Mark and the office administrator!

Last week, we had 9 Led downlights installed by AB Electrical Holdings Ltd. We are very pleased with the led downlights installed – it makes a big difference with lighting.
We are impressed when dealing with Clynton in terms of getting a quote and making an appointment.
We are very impressed with the electrician called Tom as he was very professional and efficient. He made our day, as he was so polite, friendly with a big smiley face and did a perfect job. A1+++ We even told him how nice he was. 
We would highly recommend AB Electrical to anyone. Thank you for your great customer services.

Mark from AB Electrical did an excellent job and made the whole process easy from start to finish. He was warm, friendly, professional, and very thorough with the work. His workmanship was tidy, and he took the time to clearly explain the best options for our EV charger installation and what we should consider moving forward.

Howard was also extremely thorough during the initial assessment, providing helpful advice on the most suitable products and discussing the various options available for our home installation. His knowledge and recommendations gave us confidence that we were making the right decision.

Clynton and the boys did an amazing job with our switch board upgrade and various other jobs(including smart switches) to bring our old house up to modern standards. Clynton even got the asbestos issue resolved at a great price. All electricians (Mark, Joe) were very professional and the price was the best I could find around and they stayed with the price even when things changed. Thanks for all the hard work guys.
